Hello Again
Sorry for the long delay in posting. Been a little crazy the last few weeks. Writing today from my bro's house in Jersey. Gotta love the Thanksgiving Holiday. A wonderful time to get together with family and renew old bonds that don't get the attention they warrant during day to day life. We all watched the Syracuse game last night and were very disappointed with the outcome. Still though we'll all being going to the Garden for the consolation game vs Washington. Speaking of Cuse, what was up with that performance last night? Flynn seemed flat to me. Great effort out of Harris and some good things happened in the first half. Gotta give some credit to Ohio St....they hit the big 3's when they were open...we couldn't. Very impressed with OSU's big man.....he'll being playing in the NBA in the near future. Bottom line with 'Cuse....you don't want to drop 2 in a row this week....a nice game is needed on Friday to ... (more)
General Update
Looks like I'll be in the Garden for the 'Cuse game next Friday night.....sure hope we beat Ohio St. on Wed and it's the NIT Finals at 7pm. Next game tonight....great idea having a Friday night game at the Dome...the place should be rockin'! On the polictical front, how convienient that Hillary and Arrogant Eliot both dropped their stance on drivers licenses for illegals on the same day....and very conviently right before last night's debate! Seems too obvious to be a cooindence. On the other side of the Republicrat ticket, it's great to see that Bush makes it a priority to secure our borders to the South...talk soon.

Sports Talk
Gotta love Cuse hoops off to a 2-0 start. The freshman Flynne and Greene are looking great so far and Flynne has definitely got a flair for the dramatic. For those who didn't realize it, he broke Melo's freshman debut scoring record in the first game. The 2 extra games in the Garden next week will be a great experience for this young group. Second, here we go again with NFL network. The Thanksgiving night game between the Packers and Cowboys will only be shown on NFL networks. They pulled this crap last year and it didn't set well with me. Hey NFL, wake the hell up, don't screw over your loyal fanbase and not show game on network TV. Remember, this is a time when family and friends are together and possibly the only day of football some families get together over the course of the season. Newsflash NFL, you wouldn't be rolling in dough without your loyal fan base so do the right thing and show the damn game. ... (more)
Go Cuse!
Tonight starts the adventure! Go 'Cuse hoops! Watch out for Donte Green, this frosh has some serious talent. Big keys early on will be estabishing the 3 headed scoring monster of Harris, Devo, and Green......if that happens, we'll be dangerous!
Drive Safely
Comments appreciated Sam....if only we can get away from "fast food news". One of my intentions in this blog endeavor is to shine some light on stories that DO matter yet don't get covered....my tolerance for Brittany and OJ is gone. Why don't we here about the Laredo's of the world, idiots who desacrate places of worship(again, if what happened in San Fran happened at any Temple or Mosque the country would have been in an uproar), the trevails and dangers of globalism?? THOSE STORIES DON'T SELL? How do we know ahead of time what will sell anyway, and more importantly, it's not about the sales, it's about the news content if we're really talking legit journalism? Money in pockets from ad sales should not corrupt legit reporting, and if it does as you suggest, that taints and corrupts the news by definition. My point is there are stories that matter and stories that don't....seems pretty easy for me differentiate....why don't we here more of what matters? ... (more)
Laredo Blues
Heads up and FYI for anyone who doesn't know what they do not know....after all, our friendly neighborhood mass media doesn't have the time to spend on such lame stories as this when we're all just dying to know when Brittany last flashed us and how wasted she got last night..........Laredo, TX.....bad, bad news. Between it and it's sister city on the other side of the border Nuevo Laredo, 70 Americans have been kidnapped or disappeared within the last couple of years. 2 teenage girls were given to a Mexican drug lord as a gift. Why say you? Laredo is run by drugs lords and gangs and thugs and happens to be one of the biggest smuggling points of drugs and illegal aliens into our country. Must not be that much of a story though if our liberal media ignores it. Why is this? Just wondering......
Super Bowl 41.5
Colts V. Pats tommorow. Best rivalry in pro football these days.....should be a great game. Gotta love the fact that both Peyton and Brady are class acts and worthy of being looked up to by kids. Pro sports need more athletes of this quality. Can't wait for the game!
America for Sale
Well, the first month of my blog hasn't been a raging success, but I'm happy with my content offering. Where else will you find heated political discussion, strong opionions, some good debate, coverage of sports issues and some good musical commentary(along with my chearful disposition and tidings of good karma)?
.....to the topic...what is up with the US economy?
Very week dollar, record high oil prices, a rapidly declining housing market, gold at an all time high(that should be an indicator of what the rich are doing for you estute friends and neighbors out there) and yet the stock market is hanging in there?????? Makes no sense to me....maybe it's the globalization of our economy....which I am on record as being a staunch opponent off. Reason to disagree with the brainwashing we get from media and politicians on a daily basis??? ... (more)
A-Rod and Boras
Wow.....most arrogant move in the history of baseball(other than Rafy Palmiero lying about roids while testifying before Congress). Game 4, Sox(can't even spell Socks right)about to win the Series and these jokers announce free-agency after sending a text and leaving a voicemail for Yankees brass(for the record I think the Steinbrenners don't have all of their dogs barking). Then they claim it's not about the money, but about the transition of the team. DO THESE YO-YO'S THINK WE ARE ALL STUPID. As a Yankee fan...good ridance to A-Rod...the least clutch and most overpaid Yankee of all time!
Bladerunner
Just like a mentioned earlier in the week on a response to a comment.....keep an eye out for big brother and the convience they may offer. Bladerunner in Europe introduced a GPS equiped jacket for kids. Call me old fashioned, but if you need to put a tracker on your kid you may need to rethink you're parenting skills.
assorted riff raff
... (more)forgot to mention
Yes, the Red Sox are the scurge of my existence right now......and with Joe Torre leaving the Yanks it's a dark time for Yankee fans. Saturday night I went into the heart of the Lions Den.....watched game 6 with 3 militant Sox fans in their domain and recieved payback for all the torture I've subjected them to over the years............talk about a feeding frenzy...Yikes......by the way, Cuse hoops looks young and good this year......and there will be a Boeheim look alike contest on March Madness Eve......with all that "Boeheimness" on display in one evening, some good karma is bound to be seeded!!!!!!!
snooty patooty
First, before my issue of the day I've got another great lyric to post....again from Trey Anistasio from Phish(I know I'm on a real tear with Phish right now, but over time we'll mix in others)....."though you've rehearsed tommorow's verse, forgive me if I don't sing in your key".......from the tune NICU.....Trey's the man.....I'm starting to think he might be the best guitar player currently ingesting air. Second, sorry I missed a couple days of posting.....sometimes in the land of Oz things get a little crazy.
I recent situation brought to my attention got me thinking. Everybody thinks their better than somebody......the East side of town looks down on the West side....the weathly suburbanites look down on the city folk.....the city folk think the suburbanites are stuck up.......all non-country bumpkins look down on the bumpkins....the bumpkins think their pretty shit hot compared to folks that are really, really, really rural......the ultra rich feel superior to the wealthy... ... Middle School Birth Control
So kids 11-14 can get birth control pills without Mom and Dad knowing in a Maine Middle School? Wait...was that 11 years old???? Huh? I mean is it really 11 years old?
One thing that's increasingly irritated me for about the last 4 years are all of the Viagra, Levitra ect...ads on TV that openly discuss sex and "4 hour erections". Ever been watching with your 10 year old niece in the room? Or perhaps 8 year old nephew? Or any kid that doesn't need to be seeing ads like that? It's a little awkward. What kind of discussions does this spur for little Jimmy and his buddies or young Sally and her girlfriends at a sleepover?
Where do these drug companies get off putting those adds out at family viewing time and where do the networks who accept the add money get off approving it? Oh wait, could it possible be all about the money(as opposed to right and wrong) IN THE SHALLOW END OF THE POOL? ... (more)
The smoking Gestopo
All this second hand smoke crap is getting on my nerves! Today our local big mall, Carousel Center, banned smoking on it's grounds. Bar and restaurants did a few years ago.....ATTACK OF THE PC POLICE! uGGH! Sorry folks but I've never heard of someone dying directly from second hand smoke; and if you want to get real knit-picky what about the garbage smoke that is released into our air from places like Bristol Myers in Syracuse and thousands of other industrial sites in this country. Why don't we ever hear about the effect those have on health and how many people have died directly as a result? I suppose that's not harmful. Bottom line, people have smoked since the beginning of time and always will but policians conveniently demonize it so they can tax the hell out it. By the way, where's the ACLU on this one?
Second, what's up with this rapidly spreading and very deadly strain of staff infection? ... (more)
overloaded synapsis
Well, I just learned what synapes are(I hope I'm spelling them right), the electrical charges that fire in the brain when you learn something(AT LEAST THAT'S MY UNDERSTANDING). It's my cool new word so I thought it appropo to include it in the title. Kinda cool knowing what they are now, since the lyrics in Phish's "Chalkdust Tortune" "and my synapses burned" make more sense within the context of that delightful melody. Seriously, some of Trey's lyrics are so creative that they can simply be described as delightful....one of my favorite lyrics from the tune "Lizards" is "practically extinct from doing things that smart people don't do". Seriously now, if that kind of musical nuggest does not make your synapses burn and shoot off a little seritonin in the old dome, I gotta say "whachoo talking bout Willis"? Speaking of domes, it seems like having large heads is a genetic trait in my family...seriously....if you look at my brothers and I next to another ... (more)
Penny for your thoughts
Thought I'd jump in today and leave some more riffraff for people to ruminate over. Start with Topic of local media personalities in Central NY. Since I blasted a good piece of the liberal main stream media in my last post....why not decry some of the local yocals as well(no offense Syracuse area, I'm a local yocal too!). One big source of local personalities is 570-WSYR(look, free advertising). Morning show....Joe Galuski...rock solid but a big obnoxious, love his taste for telling it like it is...afternoon....Jim Reith...tricky to opine on, would like to say I like him but he can be very irritating and lacks consistency. I think he likes to take a stand sometimes with the goal of being provocative(re: Cuse not making the tourney last year, the Mahmoud Columbia campus deal ect...) Staking ground just to be provocative for the sake of it is a bit wishy washy unless there is some conviction behind. ... (more)
Just sloowww down....
'sup folks? Well, gotta love crisp cool Saturday afternoons in October....one of life's simple joys. Couple things to opine on today. First, this fiasco out in San Fran.....the gay folks invading a Catholic service. Very, very offensive if you've caught some of the footage....which you probably haven't since our friendly neighborhood liberal mass media has buried the story. If some radical Catholics made of mockey of a Jewish or Muslim service it would be front page news, a national story and labeled as a hate crime. Couple questions: where are the Reverends Al and Jesse? Where's the ACLU? Where are the camera crews that were all over the Jena 6? Where are the liberal pundits who sacked Don Imus? No parades or rallies in support of Catholics? Humph....what can made of their absence? Does it tip a hand as to their agenda? Food for thought.
Second, we the hell are we in such a rush? ... (more)
1st reply
Time to pop open the bubbly....first response to the blog.....from a Reds fan? Rooting on the Indians.....something must be in the water out in the midwest.
On the music front, got mention one of the great alblums of all time "All Things Must Pass" by George Harrison. I'm a big Beatles fan and have really grown to love George over the past couple of years. If you haven't heard this gem, it's a must. Harrison is one of the most talented musicians of all time; and the quality, depth and creativity on display in this work of art are simply immense.
Just to give you an idea of how much I love music, I named my cat Morrison, after Van of course(although Jim may be almost worthy...love the Doors but you got to be in the right frame of mind for them). Speaking of the Doors, that's got to be one of the best music movies of all time; but I can't say it's better than "Walk the Line" which actually turned me into a Johnny Cash fan.......and opened up a ... Ohh by the way
If you haven't seen HBO's series "Tell Me You Love Me"....check it out....

... (more)Go Yanks!
Hello out there in blog land.....still looking to attract a crowd here. In the words of Pink Floyd...IS THERE ANYBODY OUT THERE?.
First, go Yanks...big game tonight. Love October baseball. Second, what an awesome Saturday night of college football. Nothing classier than seeing Harbaugh for Stanford give all the glory to the backup QB who made the big plays in the upset over USC. LSU over Flordia...simply Epic. When Syracuse football is as pathetic as it is right now, you gotta get your kicks where you can when it comes to college football. Now, let's just hope there ends up being either 5 or 6 undfeated teams, or 12 or so one loss teams, so those spoiled, rich, old monied, blue blooded crusty old farts that run the BCS will realize it's time for a playoff. Feel free to quote me on that too, it's a joke to not have a playoff in place within the stucture of the Bowl System.
Found a new comic last night...D L Hughley.....prepare to ... (more)
Blog entry #2
Well, I guess you can't expect to be an overnite success, but I was hoping I'd catch at least a couple of hits on my first day
.....oh well, Rome wasn't built in a day. Gotta comment on the bugs at the Yankee/Indian game last night. I've never seen anything like it in my life. It obviously affected Joba. Imagaine making your post season debut under all that pressure and you've got about 20 flying ants camping out on your neck!! I thought they should have stopped the game as it was obviously affecting play. Sure the Indians had to deal with it too, but still, is that any worse than playing in thick fog or mud????? It's a shame that that effects the outcome after all of the time invested in making the playoffs. Yes, I'm a Yankees fan. boo Sox. I did find it humorous that Arod got to spray the umps with bug spray though, and thought they should ... (more)
Got some things to say? I do...
Well let's get started. I'm starting this blog because I've got some things to say and address about this crazy world we're living in. Don't get me wrong, this is probably the most interesting time in history(save for the time of Christ)to be alive. I mean after all look at all of the technolgy that is slowly taking over our lives....slowly people are becoming married to their palm pilots....email, texts, web, work at work, home at work. There are some good things but it's a little sickening as well. I remember growing up we were always with other people...now we can be with others by being alone....kinda crazy huh? And who the hell needs access to their music collection on their cell phone anyway? But heaven forbid we miss the lastest act of pop culture stupidity like "don't taze me bro".
Anyway, this is only one of the issues we'll explore together on here.....believe me there will be lots of sports, politics, music, social and ... (more)
